## What does smoke do to rooms that never burned?

## What should you photograph and collect before anything is moved?

Documentation is the part homeowners control. Once demolition starts the evidence is gone, and the adjuster works from whatever is in the file. Photograph wide, then medium, then close, in every room you are allowed into.

## What does the first week of stabilization and drying actually look like?

Day one is securing and extracting. Days two through four are drying, plus a first pass of soot removal where surfaces are already dry. By the end of the first week the building should be measurably drier and the odor source identified.
